Just about an hour train ride away to the west of Prague is a cozy little village called Nižbor. You could probably pass by this place in a blink and never know about the magic that comes out a glass factory that is located there. With a long and intricate history, after 170 years the Rückl glassworks facility buzzes with energy. This Bohemian glass factory is a family business spanning across 9 generations. Crystal clear glass and skilled craftsmen with centuries-old tested techniques and the willingness to experiment allow them create crystal unlike any other. Rückl’s focus on limited collections is pushing the limits of design and technologies. While most of the arts were suppressed under communism, glass was not considered ideologically dangerous and helped promote the CZ as one of the top producers in the world.We had the pleasure of getting up close to the process for creating glass from start to finish.
