Croatia | Meeting Neno Mikulic

For the second event on our local experience track in Croatia, we were graciously invited into the home of Neno Mikulic. He was previously a Croatian soldier who fought in Homeland War and is now a successful artist. He opened the doors to his home where we drank wine, and felt Croatia through his stories and art. He paints and makes wooden sculptures which evoke a sense of humor and mimic everyday life and beauty. His work has many recurring themes of isolation and love with the underlying spirit of the old Mediterranean. His use of expressive colors creates compassion and emotional contradiction.
